Urban Fables
The streets, parks and Tube lines of London are the backdrop to every kind of storyline, from the mundane to the barely believable. In my work, the characters in these dramas can be people or animals. The latter are often in the ‘wrong’ place, as in those news reports of rumoured zoo escapes that make headlines on quiet days.
These narrative works consider how we interact with our surroundings and each other. Most of the places are reconstructed from mixed memories of the capital and elsewhere, with added imagined elements. They are about experience rather than geography, but remain open to ongoing interpretation through the eyes of others.
